I think chess and similar games have a common ancestor game from India. I may be mistaken, but I think Go/Baduk/WeiQi is traditional to Eastern Asia and countries influenced by ancient China. Go became a game of scholars and the elite- you have to have leisure time to play and study games.As a (near) full-time Baduk organizer, I dream of a world where gathering around a goban is the favorite weekly activity of millions. Towards this end, I wish to support other organizers in doing whatever is best for their communities.
